FABRIC COMPRESS Turpentine

Definition:

The use of turpentine and oil on the abdomen or joints, combined with hot steam.

Effect:

1. Eliminate flatulence or gas pains in the stomach.

2. Loosen the spasms in the stomach or intestine.

3. Stimulate peristalsis movement

4. Eliminate pain and congestion in the parts close to a sprained ankle.

5. Eliminate pain due to sudden abdominal pain.

What is required:

1. A set of tools hot compress

2. Sheet or blanket to cover patients

3. A single bath towel

4. Bottles of turpentine and oil in the mix as follows: 1 tablespoon turpentine and eight tablespoons of kerosene for children, 1 tablespoon turpentine and 6 tablespoons of kerosene for adults.

5. Cream or Lotion

A mixture of turpentine:

Put one tablespoon of turpentine into a bottle that has a cover and add 8 tablespoons of oil, if used for children. For adults, add 6 tablespoons of oil to one tablespoon turpentine,

Close the bottle and shake hard. Create labels with notes on each bottle, which for adults, which for children. These liquids can be stored for use at any time. Get rid of the children.

Procedure:

1. Bring all the necessary tools closer to the bed including a mixture of oil and turpentine

2. Prepare the patient as to compress the abdomen or ankles.

3. Dab the mixture of oil and turpentine with the fingertips to the part to be treated

4. Note the leather carefully to see whether the patient is allergic to turpentine. If found redness, discontinue treatment. Sweep and remove the mixture of oil and turpentine and rub petroleum jelly on the skin.

5. Cover the area with a dry towel and compress the area with a mixture of turpentine.Tool compresses do not get too hot.

6. Provide 3 series compress. If flatulence, teach the patient to breathe with the stomach. Breathe slowly lifted when inhaling stomach, and the stomach to deflate when the breath is issued. Do this exercise several times with the rest of them.

7. Finish compress, take a hot towel and wipe dry with a towel turpentine from skin

9. If abdominal bloating continues, repeat the treatment after 2 hours, unless advised by a doctor

10. If the patient does not recover despite already given this treatment, immediately to the doctor.

Attention:

1. Do not use turpentine treatment in patients with kidney disease

2. Do not use turpentine treatment in patients who are allergic to turpentine
3. If intestinal obstruction do not provide this care, but immediately take the patient to the hospital. Symptoms of intestinal obstruction:
> Severe pain in the abdomen
> There is no bowel activity. Can be heard with the ear of the abdominal wall
> Can not defecated or wind
4. The elderly are more sensitive
5. For diabetics / sugar mixed use for children
6. Towels to compress, do not get too hot
